Update on Drupaljam 2020
Drupaljam is rescheduled to November 6th
- 18 March 2020
Due to the recent developments around the COVID-19 (Corona) outbreak and the resulting measures from our government to prohibit big events, we have decided to postpone Drupaljam. Although measures are in place until April 6, we cannot foresee what happens after. Continuing Drupaljam would pose too great a risk, for obvious reasons. In good understanding with partners and the venue we have postponed Drupaljam 2020 to November 6, 2020.
Over the course of the past few days, the Dutch government has decided to lock down many public places, including restaurants, sports facilities and schools. Events larger than 100 people are not allowed. These and other measures are in place until April 6. We do not know what happens after this date. Even if 450 attendees were allowed in May, realistically we expect sponsors, attendees and speakers alike to hold back, and rightly so. Creating a safe environment for our attendees and participants is our main concern, and this can at this moment no longer be guaranteed.
Drupaljam 2020 will happen on November 6th
The Dutch Drupal Association and the Drupaljam organizing committee have been tracking the situation and considering options continuously. We also have financial commitments that have already been made to take into consideration. We have come to an agreement with De Fabrique in Utrecht to postpone Drupaljam to Thursday November 6th 2020.
What happens next?
Please understand that this is all happening very fast and as we need to find the time to work through all these issues one by one. We will contact all our speakers personally. We aim to contact all our sponsors in the coming days/weeks and work with them in maximizing the value of all sponsorships, in the time we now have towards November. We will refund all individual ticket purchases and reboot the new ticket sales as soon as possible.
We feel strong solidarity with other event organizers around us who have had their events hit by this crisis as well. The strength of Drupal is our community and we will do everything we can to deliver another blasting Drupaljam.
De Fabrique is a prime event venue in The Netherlands and we are sensitive to the impact Corona has on their core business. We are grateful for their cooperation and the opportunity to reschedule. On behalf of the Drupal community we would like to thank them for this and we extend our support in these extraordinary circumstances.
If you have any questions, send us an e-mail at email@example.com. We will follow up where we can, as soon as we can. We hope that you will continue to be our supporting partners during these difficult times. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through the next steps.
