Drupal on MongoDB: The future for a personalised experience
Even though Drupal is an obvious platform for sites using anonymous users, it is not an optimal choice if one plans to work with authenticated users to give the end user a personalized experience. Sure, a fast caching server like Redis will speed up Drupal’s performance for sites with anonymous users because every user will be presented with the same content, but this trick won’t work for sites with authenticated users.
Lately we have seen a trend of the market shifting towards sites for authenticated users: a personalized experience is key for today’s user.
In my presentation I will discuss the reason why Drupal on a traditional database like MySQL and MariaDB doesn’t offer an acceptable user experience for sites with authenticated users, and what sets Drupal on MongoDB apart from these sites. Furthermore, I will sketch a future scenario about the potentials of Drupal on MongoDB.
To illustrate that Drupal on MongoDB isn’t just a hope for the future, I will give a live demo using https://techblog.finalist.nl , the first up and running Drupal on MongoDB site!
